The New Dell XPS 13 (2018)
The world's smallest 13.3 inch laptop title was held by 2017 version and now it goes to 2018 model. The New Dell XPS 13 (2018) has got infinity edge displays and since the bezels are just 4mm , it gives an 80.7 percent screen to body ratio. The premium ultra portable XPS 13 has been updated towards the end of 2017 by Dell , but its not completely different from the last version. In order to enhance the level of performance out of Intel’s eighth generation processors, Dell has made some key changes in the new Dell XPS 13 by keeping battery life long and overall footprint shrinked.
How does it looks like ?
The Dell XPS 13 has got a CNC machined aluminium body along with platinum silver and carbon fiber composite palm rest made of black. There is an added new rose gold model with alpine white waven glass fiber palm rests. In order to improve the strength , glass fiber is layered and still it is light weight and soft than being bulky. There is a coating to prevent yellowing and the weight is just 1.2 kilograms(2.7 pounds) . There are 4K UHD or full HD resolution touch variants with a max brightness of 400 nits . The 4K UHD version will have 100 % RGB color gamut at 400 nits.
Features incorporated in Dell XPS 13
Rather than the conventional method of keeping webcam at top, in XPS13 it is placed at bottom like in previous model.
But the best part is it is centred and its an infrared camera for facial recognition. A built in fingerprint reader also comes with the power button. Dell XPS13 has got eighth generation Intel’s quad_ core i5-8250U or i7-8550U processor. And it comes in 4 GB or 8 GB RAM (1.866 MHZ) or 16 GB RAM(2,133 MHZ). Other compactable features are 128 GB SATA SSD or 256 GB ,512 GB or 1 TB PCle SSD , Intel UHD graphics 620 ,killer 1435 802.llac (2×2) or Intel 8265 802.llac (2×2) both with Bluetooth 4.1.
Smart cooling mechanism
Improvements on heat pipes and fans are made by Dell using Gore thermal insulation which is used first time in laptops. It remove the heat out of the devices instead of into laptop's chassis. This improves the performance from the components but heat would reach the user's lap or hands. The new XPS13 has a running time for 20 hours with full HD display or upto around 11 hours with 4K display.
