Android P [ Things to know about the Android 9.0]

Android P

Android P or Android 9.0 is the latest version of Android operating system. The new Android P developer preview has been released on early March 2018. And i have strong feeling that this time Google has something much more to show. The Android P Developer Preview is available only to the  Pixel devices like Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. If you don't have a Pixel device you can also try the new Android P. You can download the the Android P developer preview image and run on a emulator. But the Pixel devices sure get a upper hand on the stability compared to emulators.

Naming for Android P (9.0)

Since the Google has a Trend to name the Android versions with an alphabetic order. And now it's P .

So its  Android 9.0 ,it will be something more like Pie, Pancake, Popcorn or something that start with letter "P". We can't really say until we get a conformation from the Google.

Lets get to the fun part. The Android P has some cool features as following.

1.Indoor Positioning with Wi-Fi RTT.

Well this feature will give you more precision in indoor navigation. In simple words it will use the nearby wifi access points to figure out the exact location.

2.Display cutout support

Gives support for edge to edge screens with display for camera and speaker.

3.Notifications

 Displays images in Messaging Notifications on phones, Can save replay as drafts. suggested replies available in your messaging app.

4.Multi-camera support and camera updates

Now you can stream or use two or more physical cameras from rear and front. create bothies or bokeh more efficiently. Yeah , in simple word it will improve the camera features.

 And lots more features like

• Neural Networks API 1.1
• New Security enhancements
• HDR VP9 Video, HEIF image compression, and Media APIs

Android P release Date

Since the developer preview has been released , the Android P will coming out soon. It is expected to release in last of May 2018. Its not 100% since Google haven't talk about the release date of the consumer version.

Will I get Android P?

Its upto your smartphone, which brand you have. If you have a pixel device then its sure you will get it . And if you have an Android One device then you have great chance for getting it, rest of it depends on the smartphone manufactures. The Samsung galaxy S9 and S9 plus also has higher chance for Android P upgrade. 

Conclusion 

since the Google has the trend to bring lots of improvement in the Android series , Lets hope the Android P surely make a great improvement. Especially the improvements on Camera and network are notable.
